The new TeamMate 360 Model defines exactly the six Core Skills needed by team leaders and managers who lead remote team members and teams. They are:<\/p>\n<table width=\"751\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"376\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Developing Team Plans<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Team Leadership<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Team Communication<\/td>\n<td width=\"376\">\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Working as a Team<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Performance Management<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Exploiting Technology<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>TeamMate 360 project coordinator <strong>John Moore<\/strong> said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Managing remote team members and virtual teams is not so different from conventional people management. Of course, distance can be a barrier, but today\u2019s technology has to a large extent made this excuse redundant.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The main principles of management and leadership are the same for conventional management and remote or virtual management.\u00a0 I believe communication takes on a new level of significance as does the use of communications technology.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is reflected in the Core Skill, Exploiting Technology, which is made up of four Specific Skills: Using Technology, Facilitating Communication, Sharing Information and Enabling Collaboration. Today\u2019s managers and team leaders need to know to use digital tools to support remote workers.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Moore added:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>It is essential that remote workers feel a part of the team and the decision-making process.
