The mission of the Strengthening SME Sustainability Outlook (SustainSMEs) project is to provide essential support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in their journey to reduce their environmental impact. We firmly believe that sustainability should be ingrained in the core of their management practices. To achieve this, we aim to address the need for sustainable management practices within SMEs, such as the introduction of a new SME position, the Sustainability Regulator (SR).
The project was co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme with Grant Agreement no: 2021-1-ES01-KA220-VET-000025136.
SustainSME’s objectives are to:
✓ Develop a control mechanism within SMEs to increase or maintain their sustainability performance.
✓ Define a new role within SME structure, assigning specific role and responsibilities related to Sustainability.
✓ Promote the recognition of skills and qualifications according to EQF in Europe.
✓ Improve the SME sustainability practices and outlook.
✓ Faster innovation, education, social inclusion and climate/energy preservation, in line with the EU Strategy.
✓ Create more job opportunities through sustainable development
✓ Strengthen the role of VET In educating SME management on sustainability policies and practices • Underline the use of EQF and ECVET as tools for achieving lifelong learning
The project’s outcomes are:
✓ A full Job Description and Specification for the Sustainability Regulator (SR), who will play a vital role in monitoring and assessing the environmental performance of SMEs.
✓ A Digital Sustainability Audit Tool to provide SRs and SMEs with an intuitive platform to monitor and evaluate their sustainability performance across economic, environmental, and social factors.
✓ The SustainSMEs VET Curriculum and Course to empower SRs and VET trainers with the necessary knowledge and expertise.
