In the project Visualize: An innovative training concept for strengthening the tolerance and soft skills of young people (Grant Agreement no. 2016-2-DE04-KA205-014270), young people aged 14 to 25, with and without disadvantages, are the focus. The project aims to develop cognitive and social skills, improve competences, and promote cross-cultural cooperation. By fostering tolerance and understanding diverse perspectives, it encourages a global outlook and eliminates the thinking that there’s a right and a wrong way to interpret the world around us.
The objectives of the Visualize project:
✓ To reduce the levels of intolerance of young people towards the views and opinions of other people.
✓ To equip young people with the relevant skills they need in order to be less vulnerable to radical political movements in EU.
✓ To strengthen communication skills, self-reliance, social competencies and self-esteem among young people
✓ To equip teachers, social pedagogics and trainers and organizations involved with new innovative methods and skills is also a priority.
✓ To make art, exhibitions and museums more popular among young people.
Project results:
✓ Art report: A report that provides trainers and visual thinking experts with an overview of the target group’s current situation, including their disadvantages, difficulties, specific needs, and interests. This information helps trainers engage with the young participants more effectively and serves as a basis for comparing the before-after status of the project.
✓ Visual Thinking Strategies: a method developed that enhances soft skills, such as communication, social competencies, empathy, self-esteem, and self-reliance, to prepare individuals for the job market through the use of visual interpretation and dialogue.
✓ Creation of a website with an online-space
✓ Visualize Guidebook: a comprehensive resource designed to provide professionals in the field of education with an overview of the Visualize project, including an introduction to Visual Thinking Strategies, a glossary of competencies reinforced by Strategie sessions, insights from training of trainers, country-specific experiences and results, transformations observed in participants, and a sample Visual Thinking Strategies’ lesson plan for implementation.
